Emco Unimat PC "Basic"  2.1" x 7.6"  (54 mm x 194 mm).
The PC was a beautifully integrated design, with very rigid, large-diameter bed bars and variable-speed drive; the latter, combined a three step pulley drive gave three speed ranges: 20 to 300 rpm, 300 to 1200 rpm and 1200 to 2200 rpm. The motor - happily a switchable 115 volt/230 volt and dual 50/60 Hz unit - was confusingly referred to by the makers as having a maximum "absorbed power" of 80W, a "maximum power output" of 50 watts and a "continuously absorbed power" of 60 watts. Whatever the output, it was only just adequate.
The spindle, with a bore of 12.2 mm was threaded M14 x 1 - as was the tailstock barrel in order to mount screw-on chucks and rotating centres - there being no Morse-taper fitting.
This lathe was available, like others in the Emco range, with a computer control system running on a standard PC; a kit was offered, containing two stepper motors, a power pack and drive belts, to make this conversion possible.
Unfortunately, it was very expensive and, compared to previous small Emco lathes, relatively few were sold. Of all the miniature Emco lathes this is almost certainly the best you can buy but, because of their rarity, and the inclination of owners to hang on to them, they are very hard to find.

The throat was 70 mm, the working stroke 126 mm and the column diameter 35 mm. The motor (and the speed range) were of exactly the same specification as that fitted to the lathe.
