The detachable gap bed model could be ordered with a centre height of 4 or 5.25 inches and with a capacity of either 21.5 or 30 inches between centres - which was reduced by one inch if a lever-action tailstock was fitted.

The drive system was a particularly well arranged, if rather ugly design, with a wide pulley on the motor carrying two belts, one crossed for reverse, which rose to wrap round the edges of a pulley divided so that the two outer rings were "loose" - able to spin freely on their shaft - and the central one "fast" to take the drive. A belt-striker arm was arranged to move either belt from loose to fast pulley - and so instantly drive the lathe spindle forwards or backwards as required.
