Multipro Minilor TR-11 Lathe

MinMinilor TR-1, TR-1S, Vario-Lux
and Minilor TR-20
Lathes

A copy of the Emco Compact Eight - with a few detail differences such as the leadscrew support brackets and electrical controls - the Multipro Minilor TR-11 was manufactured by "Anciennes Forges" of Sapois 88 in the Vosges, France. The Minilor "brand" is better known for the rather fragile, die-cast Minilor TR1 (also listed as the TR1S, Vario-Lux and TR20).
Presumable identical in mechanical specification to the Emco Compact 8, this lathe was never exported to the UK but appears to have been widely distributed in Europe. Unfortunately, the TR-11 had the same very limited range of 6 spindle speeds of the Emco version - these being by direct belt drive with no slow-speed backgear. Although an appealing machine in the showroom, users quickly discovered that the bottom speed of 100 r.p.m made a variety of jobs rather more difficult than if this had been set at 25 to 30 r.p.m. Details of the very similar Emco Compact 8 can be found here
Another lathe badged as a Minilor was also offered, the TR-20, an example of which can be seen here.
