The bar-bed mounted carriage works with a smooth action - and chips are easily cleared from the bed rails.
The fitting of proper ball-ended balanced handwheels is a pleasing touch.

The cross slide is unusually narrow, but very deep - however, it lacks the T slots that would transform its  usefulness. The top slide is very strongly built, with a very thick section, and should be well able to resist the tendency of amateurs (and some professionals) to over tighten the toolpost clamping nut.

Top slide swivel graduations: a riveted and glued plate which is simple, cheap and effective - but neither aesthetically pleasing nor liklely to be durable.
