Drive came from a conventional 4-speed V-belt drive countershaft mounted behind the headstock. Belt tension was set and relaxed by an over-centre lever working against a cam that hinged the units backwards and forwards


Ingeniously-simple coolant pump drive with a friction disc rotating at right-angles against the face of a plate fitted to the end of the countershaft spindle
