Available in two versions, the precision DLZ140/DLZ190 and the super-precision DLZ 140S/DLZ190S lathes were fitted with super-high precision tapered roller bearings and a finely balanced spindle. Both had variable-speed drive with a 1 : 7 reduction gear and clutch unit that could be switched while the spindle was turning -  for example, to cut threads at low speeds and then to run the tool back at high speed. In addition, a conventional backgear was fitted to give an impressively useful speed range of 15 to 3100 rpm.
