At the top of this page are accessories as sold during the 1940s and 19450s and towards
the bottom similar items, including stands and countershafts, current during the 1920s and 1930s

Part GE
Screwcutting feed to the top slide.
Unusually, and very conveniently, the drive incorporated a dog clutch where it joined the top slide.

Part FV
Another screwcutting feed to the top slide--but incorporating a rearward-driving belt, possibly to a coolant pump.
If any owner has experience of this set up, the author would be pleased to hear from them.

Part PW
A "Chase-type" screwcutting attachment using master threads or "hobs".

Part w45ar (left facing) and w45al (right facing) micrometer carriage stops.

Part w45
Adjustable carriage stop.

Part w36st
An unusual assembly with a lever-feed cross slide and two independent, lever-feed top slides.
Although each top slide sat on a different base, for some indiscernible the front slide had only one T-slot, while the rear carried two.

Part w46
Dial thread indicator.

Part w33
Lever-feed cross slide with a screw-feed top slide--and a rear toolpost mounted on the bracket w10d.

Part w36
Another double top slide unit, but with the slideways completely covered against the ingress of swarf and dirt and fitted with adjustable screw stops.

Part w31st
Lever-feed cross and top slides with front and rear toolposts.

Part w32
A screw-feed cross slide with lever-feed top slide. Both slides had covered ways.

Part w30a
A simple lever-feed cut-off slide for use in conjunction with the capstan units w34, w34ku and w35.

Part w31
Lever-feed cross and top slides (with covered ways) and adjustable-screw stops. A rear toolpost was mounted on the bracket w10d.

Part w31e
A small screw-feed slide with limited travel designed to assist with the setting of difficult operations - usually fastened to the rear of the cross slide

Part w30
A toggle-lever operated slide where the front and rear toolposts were set at different heights.

Part w10
Standard screw-feed compound slide rest for the precision plain-turning lathes.

W10e rear tool post with screw feed (left) and plain rear tool post w10d (right).

Part w10c
When the W10 compound slide was fitted with a top slide having two adjustable stops it became known as part w10c. In addition it could be fitted (as shown) with a screw-feed rear tool post, the w10e (which had a limited range of movement) or a plain rear tool post the w10d, shown below,

Yet another adaptation of the w10 was the w10a - a precision, short travel, lever-operated slide designed to assist with short-run production runs on small components.

Older type single cut-off/forming slide with front and rear toolposts

Older type production compound slide with all-lever operation slide with all-lever operation

Vertical slide fitted with the double-swivel bracket (w14g) and a vice (w14e) mounted on an angle bracket (w14d).

Part w14a
The basic unit of the vertical slide, the w14a, lacked any means of mounting; a simple right-angle bracket (w14f) with a single swivel was offered (shown left) or a double swivel (w14g) with a large circular base which attached to the ordinary top slide mounting - shown below.

The vice (w14e), with jaws 85 mm wide and with a capacity of 50 mm, shown together with its right-angle adapter bracket (w14d).

Parts w14g (left) and w14f (right)
These angle brackets were the two main items employed to attach the vertical slide to the lathe cross slide.

Part w20
A dividing unit to mount on the vertical slide.

Part w13a The grinding attachment

Part w22a - the "Universal" milling attachment, designed to accept 8 mm collets.

Part w4
For hand turning, a large flip-top tool rest could be bolted to the bed ways.

Part s3
Quick-closer collet attachment.

Part r4a
Special tailstock to take collet fittings and with independent stops.

Part s2
Headstock dividing plate with rings of: 34, 54, 64, 66, 78, 84, 96, 100 and 120 holes.

Part r3a
Capstan-handle tailstock with 4 independently adjustable screw-set stops.

Part r3
Standard Lever-action tailstock with depth stop.

Part w34
The standard bed-mounted capstan unit had automatic indexing as the slide was moved backwards.

Part w34ku
A heavier duty capstan unit with prismatic slides and automatic indexing.

Part w35
This 6-station capstan unit , whilst rather small, had the advantage of being mounted on a lever-feed compound slide unit, so allowing it to perform many unusual functions in the hands of an imaginative operator.

Early plain indexing head Type w18 designed to be mounted on a vertical slide and fitted with a 60-tooth plate

Early swivel-base dividing head Type w20 with a plate carrying eight circles of division holes: 50, 54, 60, 64, 68, 70, 72, 80, 84, 98 and 120

Type w19 dividing head intended for use on the smallest precision lathes Types A1. The plate had ten circles of holes: 50, 54, 60, 64, 68, 70, 72, 80, 84 and 90

Accessory w35 a saw bench to mount on the bed with the blade held in an arobor running between centres.

V1 Countershaft but for use with round rope - the v2 countershaft was identical but for use with a flat belt

V3 Countershaft with high-low speed pulley drive (selected by the central lever) for use on light latheswith round rope drive

V5 Countershaft with compact central stand and fast-and-loose pulley drive

V6 Countershaft with fast-and-loose pulleys

V7 Countershaft with twin fast-and-loose pulleys--one with reverse (by twisted belt)

Stand Type u2 with cast-iron legs, wooden top and a locking drawer. Weighing approximately 181 lbs this lighter assembly could be used for all versions of the Company's precision lathes. When supplied for the heavier Types A3-LZ , C3-LZ and D3-L the weight was increased to 121 lbs

Stand Type u1 with cast-iron legs and chip tray, a hardwood shelf and a locking drawer. Weighing 181 lbs the stand could be used to support all lathes in the Company's precision range - though when supplied for the backgeared and screwcutting types A3-LZ , C3-LZ and D3-L it was fitted with  wooden compartment to hold the changewheels and weighed  187 lbs

Stand type u3 with a hardwood top, locking drawer and cast-iron legs supporting a flywheel treadle assembly for either flat or round belt drive. Weighing approximately 200 lbs this assembly was intended for all models with the exception of the heavy backgeared and screwcutting  types A3-LZ , C3-LZ and D3-LZ.
