The "Panther" is a current production Indian-made lathe, obviously copied from a classic design dating back to the early 1930s, with a full screwcutting gearbox and power sliding and surfacing.
The customer is able to specify a wide range of changes to the machine - the bore of the spindle, tailstock barrel travel, speed range etc. The use of flat-belt drive is interesting and the system fitted to the panther is reported as working both quietly and efficiently.
