Kharkovski Watchmaker's Lathe
Other Watchmaker's Lathes

Manufactured in the Ukraine (which still has a considerable machine industry), the name Kharkovski comes from the  Russian spelling of the industrial region "Harkov" . Showing every sign of functionality being given precedence over form and quality of finish, the Kharkovski is thought to be one of only very few lathes of its type made in that country - most similar types being produced in either the (then) USSR or communist-controlled German Democratic Republic (East Germany).
Of the D-bed "Geneva" pattern the lathe took 6 mm collets and was supplied in a crudely-finished wooden box complete with 17 "wire" collets, a flip-up tool rest, one step collet, a bell chuck, pivoting tool and a simple tailstock with a rather short upper section into which spindles and other attachments could be clamped..
