Drehblitz Quick-set Toolposts

Drehblitz, a now-defunct German Company, were, at one time competitors to, amongst others, the well-known British design of "Dickson" quick-change toolpost (with its dovetail clamping system); the American "Aloris" piston type; the compact Swiss Tripan; a direct copy of the Multifix, the SPI-made Multiquick, and two other out-of-production German models: the Parat (this was able to take 4 toolholders at once) and the expensive "Bergström" - details of which can be seen on the Öronmaskiner lathe page.
Like the similar Multifix, the Drehblitz was made from a case-hardened chrome steel" with the serrated locating teeth ground in. A variety of sizes was offered, the central turret unit being sized through Types DB50 to DB200 and intended for lathes from 4 to 14 inches in centre height and fitted with motors of up to 40 h.p. The usual wide range of toolholders was offered including standard ones with parallel slots; V-slot in two sizes to hold round tools; parting blade carriers; split round holder that could be bushed with parallel or Morse taper fittings; parting blade and knurling carriers and a type shared with Multifix, a unit fitted with a quick-withdrawal mechanism to speed up screwcutting. As an addition to the chart listing the physical sizes of the toolposts, the makers also include data concerning the power of a lathe (from 1 h.p. to 30 h.p.) and the width of its top slide - these figures enabling a customer to choose the most appropriate unit. Details of sizes, fittings and holders can be seen in a chart towards the bottom of the page..
