For Sale: Colchester Student Lathe Mk. 1.5 with the improved safety apron. 6.5" x 14 with a full English and metric screwcutting gearbox, taper-turning unit and an Ainjest rapid-threader unit. Mounted on the maker's stand with a home-made splashback. This lathe runs well and everything works as it should, the bedways having little wear and the cross slide screw under 30-thou of backlash. The leadscrew clasp nuts on both the Ainjest and carriage are sound. Well equipped, the lathe comes with a fixed steady, travelling steady, a Bison 3-jaw chuck with many sets of alternative jaws, thread-dial indicator, 12-inch faceplate, catchplate, the usually missing spindle-nose reduction bush, the special chuck C-spanner, a quick-set Dickson toolpost in a T2 size. The taper-turning attachment is missing the anchor bracket and has, for some unaccountable reason, been tack welded on a non critical part of the slide. This should remove easily, restoring its function.
