Jig Boring Machines & Techniques Jig Boring Training
Manufactured into the 1970s, Omega Jig borers of the conventional type were produced by Italy's first makers of the type, the Società Industria Macchine Accessori, a company who better known by its initials S.I.M.A. The firm was based in the hamlet of Vignale, a few km to the north of the town Novara and around 50 km to the west of Milan. Initially sold with optical measuring equipment, by the late 1960s an electronic read-out system was available (sourced variously from Airmec, General Electric, D.E.A., Philips and Olivett) as were the options--in addition to hand opeation--of automatic and numerical control of the table feeds.
