A conventional, treadle-driven, backgeared, screwcutting and gap-bed Hines from circa 1890. Although fitted with a modern toolpost, the rest of the lathe remains original with even the maker's two and four-jaws chucks and faceplate surviving. The face of the headstock pulley is drilled with no fewer than six indexing circles with 200, 180, 144, 120, 112 and 90 holes.
