Designed to sharpen the just "D" cutters used by pantograph engraving machines - but not to act as general tool & cutter grinders - the Taylor Hobson Types "C", "D" and "G"  was introduced during the 1920s, 1940s and 1950s respectively.
Over many decades Taylor Hobson offered many of their engraving machines with "built-on" cutter grinders - but recommended, for busy workshops, the use of their bench models.
