Built as a one-off machine to a customer's special order, the Stevens miniature precision lathe has a centre height of 50 mm and accepts around 100 mm between centres. Sitting on a solid steel base around 200 x 200 mm, the lathe is run from a variable-speed DC motor with an accompanying controller. Very heavily built and extremely rigid, to extend the lathe's versatility, the customer ordered a pair of high-speed, self-motorised vertical drilling and milling heads, a separate high-speed drilling spindle and several other useful accessories.
