Sliven Vertical Milling Machine

Sliven were machine tool makers based in Bulgaria. In addition to marketing machines from Hobbymat branded with their name, they also manufactures close copies of others makers machines including the Emco 5 milling machine However, although appearing to be modelled on the Emco, the table, was very much shorter and the head appears to have incorporated a number of design changes.
With a length of 250 mm and a width of 100 mm the table had a longitudinal travel of 150 mm and across of 100 mm. The head could be elevated through a distance of 120 mm and the quill through a travel of 40 mm. Just three spindle speeds were provided, these being 400, 800 and 1600 r.p.m. and just sufficient for light-duty model engineering. The Sliven occupied a space of 400 x 340 x 550 mm and weighed 45kg.
