Perfecto 5" hand-operated shaper circa 1975 "Model No. 1" - almost an exact copy of the Tom Senior shaper of 1935. The bed length was 15 inches, the table on early models 6" x 6" - later ones were rather larger - and could be adjusted through approximately 2 inches of vertical movement by repositioning the mounting bolts. The ram was 10 inches long, with 5 inches of stroke and the swivelling toolpost had 2.25 inches of height adjustment. A reversing, automatic feed was fitted to the carriage. The machine was 17 inches long, 12 inches wide and stood approximately 12 inches high - the weight was 56 lbs. During the 1970s the shaper was handled in the USA by Caldwell Industries of Luling, Texas and it is known that numbers were sold., especially of the powered model.
