F.A. Scheu Lathe

Manufactured in Berlin  - but photographed in Estonia - the remains of this F.A.Scheu dates from the late 1930s or early 1940s. Known as makers of capstan and similar industrial machines, this must be one of the Company's smaller examples Of the very heavy "production" type i.e. fitted with power feeds but bereft of screwcutting and fitted with just a cross slide able to carry front and rear toolpost, its bed is carried on a huge cast-iron stand that would originally have held the motor and spindle-speed gearbox. If any reader can help with more details of Scheu machine tools, the writer would be interested to hear from you.
