Daewoo & Namsun Lathes Type NSL
Daewoo & Namsun Milling Machines


Established in 1950, by the 1980s the Namsun Machinery works in Korea were offering the both a variety of CNC machine tools and conventional lathes of the Model Type NSL. These machines, also branded as Daewoo (and Dae-Woo) were marketed in the UK by Daewoo Industrial Co. (U.K.) Ltd of Harrow in Middlesex, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daewoo Heavy Industries Corporation of Korea. CNC lathe by Daewoo Heavy Industries were handled separately in the UK by Mills Marketing Ltd., in Norwich. Namsun conventional milling machines were also handled by Dae-Woo Industrial Co. (U.K.) Ltd and can be seen on this page.
Three ranges of lathe were offered: the smallest model being the 200 mm centre height NSL-400 that could be had with either 750 or 1000 mm between centres. Mid-range machines were the 225 mm centre height NSL-450 with a choice of 1000, 1500 or 2000 mm between centres and the 275 mm centre height NSL-550, this range having one extra-long bed model available to take 3000 mm between centres. The largest Models were the Type NSL-700 with a centre height of 350 mm and between-centres capacities of 700, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 mm. Full details can be found in the catalogue extracts below.
Today, Namsun continues to build, alongside CNC machine tools, a range of conventional, operator-controlled lathes and millers.
