Like most precision bench lathes the Stark was also offered fitted out for light production work as a "screw machine" - a design known in Great Britain as a capstan lathe - and as a "second-operation" lathe for the precision finishing of parts or as an intermediate stage of production. Fitted to a specially-constructed stand with tool drawer, storage shelf, light unit, coolant equipment, drip tray and a splash back the main additions to the lathe were a lever-action collet closer, bed-mounted 6-tool automatic-indexing capstan head and a lever-operated cut-off and forming slide. Other accessories included a collet draw tube, lever and screw-feed tailstocks and an auxiliary motor mounted on a removable upright to power grinding and milling heads held in the toolpost of the compound slide rest. The lathe was available with either a standard or high-speed spindle range and as a No. 4 model, with 3/4-inch collet capacity, or a No. 41/2 able to take collets with a maximum through bore of 1-inch.
