Although converted to motor drive, the early 20th century Lorch Schmidt retains its original treadle drive and stand. With the lathe are a number of rare accessories including a milling slide, gear-cutting attachment and a headstock-mounted dividing plate. One (neat and reversible) modification has been carried out to the hand traverse of the carriage with the imposition of a gear-down arrangement to give a finer feed.
