Tom Senior Major ELT
Universal Milling Machine

SOLD: late-model Tom Senior "Major ELT" Universal Milling Machine. This is a rare, top-of-the-range version with a dovetail overarm, an extra-long, 37" x 8.25" swing table with 28" of powered longitudinal travel and a much stronger knee than the standard models.  The miller has full vertical and horizontal capacity with a "S-Type" head having its own motor and both fine quill feed by worm-and-wheel gearing and a quick-action drilling feed by rack-and-pinion. The horizontal drive has a separate motor and is fitted with a backgear system that allows very heavy work to be undertaken. Both motors are controlled by their own high-quality Newton-Tesla  Mitsubishi Series D700 1-phase to 3-phase variable-speed inverters. Complete with 30 INT tooling, horizontal arbor, Clarkson Autolock chuck, fly cutter, a 30INT to 2 Morse adapter sleeve and coolant equipment. From a university research department, the miller has had only light use and is a compact, highly versatile machine able to undertake both very fine, high-speed work on small components as well as slab milling on heavier jobs. Imperial graduations. £2750
